A few fun facts about dear Saint Patrick:

Saint Patricus

So I did my research, and although I am the first person to question facts or folklore and lean towards the fantastical, it is possible that Saint Patrick - born Maewyn Succat - may be Italian! Saint “Patricus”, (Latin) is penned in two surviving documents attributed to him.

You see, technically the British Isles were occupied by the Romans at one time and indigenous Celts descended from modern-day Italy. Cool. Seeeeeee, finally there is a reason I love Irish Sea Shanties with no ancestral Irish blood.

Love a Good Allegory.
Saint Patrick banished all the snakes from Ireland, but Scholars believe the snake story is truly about St. Patrick’s eradication of pagan ideology.

Symbolism

The Shamrock, called the “seamy” by the Celts and was considered a sacred plant that symbolized the arrival of spring. St. Patrick used the plant as a symbol portraying the Holy Trinity. Honestly a fantastic marketing hook. Let's take an abundant green flower and make everyone think about nomine Patris et Filii et Spiritus Sancti. Freaking Genius, Maewyn.
